Situated in the beautiful town of Mechelen, North of Brussels, Brouwerij Het Anker is a family brewery now in its fifth generation.  Gouden Carolus refers to a golden coin originally minted in the time of Charlemagne, and bearing the imprint of the head of the famous emperor. The four beers from the Het Anker Brewery are named Gouden Carolus – superbly appropriate, as each one is a true treasure. Four beers, each with its own distinct personality, but all having the common characteristics of pure quality and delicious taste.

The ‘opsinjoor’ is a figure from Mechelen mythology and tradition.
A wicked, goblin-like figure that represents bad behaviour that is condemned in effigy by the residents of the town in an annual town festival. Wickedly hoppy - Cinnamon and clove spicy hop character rest on a base of honey sweetness.  Fruit, cane sugar, herbal hop character – lemongrass, with secondary character of citrus and coriander – all in the aroma. They follow through in the flavour, and furthermore, black peppercorn, and yeasty breadiness further develop on the palate when tasting this beer. Multi-layered, complex, incredibly tasty – perfect beer for lovers of hoppy brews.
