MONGOZO

‘Mongozo’ means ‘to your health in the language of the Chokwe people – who live across the African countries of Angola, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Henrique Kabia – of the Chokwe people – left Africa with only a range of distinctive beer recipes as his possessions. When he arrived in Belgium, he was determined to make his fortune by brewing these distinctive beers.  Adhering to the philosophy of the Fair Trade movement, the exotic ingredients for Mongozo beers are sourced following ethical (fair trade) philosophies.

Banana beer is truly African. It is the traditional beer of the Masai people of Kenya and Tanzania (who call the beer mbege). Bananas are distinctly the order of the day with this beer – it is evident in the initial aromas, on the palate, with the beer character of the beer coming through in the aftertaste. A unique, distinctive and tasty beer.
